Adult dust mites are around 0.3-0.5 mm in length, with the body ribbed and pinkish in colour. Females have an egg-laying period between 15 and 20 days, with each female laying around 30 eggs. After 10 days, the eggs hatch and enter the larval stage.
After around 10 days, the larva tranforms into the protonymph which in turn after a further 10 days turns into the tritonymph. The adult mite then emerges from the tritonymph 10 days after.
Development times are highly dependent upon temperatures and humidity levels.
You are able to control dust mites in various different ways. Physical control includes dehumidfying the area and generally cleaning up.
