Rabbit, Oryctolagus cuniculus
A fully grown rabbit is about 40 cm long (head an body) and can weigh 1.2-2 kg. It may eat 0.5 kg if green food a day.
It lives communally with other rabbits in a system of burrows, known as a warren. The male is known as a buck and the female as a doe. The main breeding season is January to July, with a small number of animals breeding outside this period. | |
